Non-existent grades are either treated as minimum grades or are not included in the aggregation. For example, an assignment graded between 0 and 100 for which only half of the students have been assessed will either count the non-graded submissions as 0 (option disabled) or ignore them (option enabled).
Important: An empty grade is simply a missing entry in the gradebook and could mean different things. For example, it could be a participant who has not yet submitted an assignment, a submission that has not yet been graded by the teacher, or a grade that has been manually deleted by the gradebook administrator. Caution is advised when interpreting these «empty grades».
Note: You can make use of this option or the lower «Keep highest» option. If you have both configured, then only the ‘Discard lowest’ option will be usable in the course categories.
You cannot execute functions in the category context (category id:101). El mensaje de error del contexto fue: Valor de parámetro no válido detectado»}».
How to create categories and upload files to Moodle
A user who is assigned the role of course creator can (as the name suggests!) create a course. If the setting for the ‘Creators’ role in new courses (creatornewroleid) in Site administration / Users / Permissions / User policies is left as it is by default (teacher), then the course creator is enrolled as a teacher of the course they have created and can then edit the course settings and can enroll other users.
When a course creator creates a course, they are automatically enrolled in the course as a teacher, or whatever role is set in Administration > Site administration > Users > Permissions > User policies.
If you require a course creator to have additional permissions, it is recommended to use the Manager role, rather than changing the course creator role permissions. Otherwise, allowing additional capabilities for the course creator role may result in course creators having access to courses which they have not created.
Creating categories in Moodle
Assessment is undoubtedly one of the issues that most concerns us as teachers. The exceptional situation in which we find ourselves has led us to look for alternative forms of evaluation from the online point of view. The delivery of timed exercises, the sending of images with the resolution procedures, or virtual questionnaires from different learning platforms are some options.
If we focus on virtual quizzes from Moodle, for example, we have the possibility of creating a bank of questions (of different types) and build quizzes by choosing them randomly. The problem that arises is obvious: what guarantees do we have that the scores obtained are a true reflection of the work of our students? Have they received help from other people? Have they copied each other?
The choice was more than interesting. In our mathematics subjects, most of the time the focus is on the procedure of solving the exercises (also on the interpretation, I know). If we assume that, for example, we are interested in checking whether our students know how to calculate the mean or the variance of some data, what difference does it make what that data is? Then there is the question of interpretation, but conceptual assessment would be a different kind of exposition.
